Saturday Updates

Good Saturday Morning, Stroock's Books commune. We have returned to New Jersey. As Murphy rules with an iron fist here, last night we had a lot of trouble staying asleep even though we popped two of the thingies we take to knock us out at night. Too tired to sleep is totally a thing.

The temp never rose above 85 in the Berkshires these previous two weeks. Mornings began in the 60s. We returned to New Jersey where 90 + temps socked us right in the face. No idea what that is in Celsius. Figure it out yourselves, damn Euros.

We're glad to be back for a short end-of-July interlude before August begins, the next phase of our summer. It's four weeks till Long Beach Island, that's plenty of time for summer things.

We haven't had a cigar in three weeks and are quite pleased with ourselves. Maybe tomorrow.

It's rainy this morning, which means we won't have to mow the lawn today.

The Things.

Today we'll print out a hard copy of World War 1990: The Final Storm and begin reading. July was indeed the month. One of our people asked how long we'd been working on the Final Storm and we said we didn't know anymore. He replied he thought we'd been bitching about the book since 2020. JFC. It's just time to be done. This is it. This is the novel.

On the World War 1990: Norway front, we indeed finished the rough draft of The Battle of Tromso. There's plenty of work there to be done, mostly articulation and clarification, and we need to finish a scene and probably write another, and we wonder if we need a NATO POV character for the battle, but the chapter rough is done. Overall World War 1990: Norway is 34,000 words. We plan to hit 40,000 words next week. But as the saying goes....
