Will's Night Out: The Morning After

We were bored yesterday and we're bored this morning. So it's back to blogging on the weekends. We did a 2003 and Me yesterday, and we think we'll continue the practice on Saturdays. Next year comes 2004 and More, then Keeping 2005 Alive, etc etc.  [Why? -Ed] A writer writes. [Yeah but why bore everyone with the minutiae of what you were doing 20 years ago?-Ed]. Oh, and what were you doing 20 years ago, luv? Sitting in some crap hole tea house in Liverpool, picking tobacco flecks from your Pall Mall out of your mouth with a toddler on your lap and another on the way?

I went out with a friend last night. Don't worry, I was safely tucked in and watching Arrested Development by 11:30. We hit a fancy brew pub and then Buffalo Wild Wings [classy -Ed]. The girl behind the bar didn't look old enough to drink. Neither did the two kids sitting next to us who struck up a conversation.

They were both 21. One had a short beard, black baseball cap, and wore a red flannel shirt. He walked around on crutches having broken a leg in a recent motorcycle accident. The other kid was quite skinny, with deep, sunken eyes and brown locks falling in front of his face. I would have pegged him for an Eye-talian but his surname was as Anglo-Saxon as possible, and his dad was from Canada. They don't allow Italians in Canada, right? Bastards.

They asked my compatriot and I for generalized life-lesson advice. The two of us have a combined 99 years of experience and are among the best there is at what we do. So these young men came to the right place. 'On a standardized test, the answer is almost never the letter E,'* I advised. I kept thinking of bad off colour bedroom advice jokes but managed to keep them to myself. Later we talked about why chicks dig musicians. And it turns out both lads listen to Wolfmother, whom we're seeing this Friday. These two young men actually left Buffalo Wild Wings before we did.

We ordered a bacon cheeseburger and it was glorious. No gout, yet. Overall, we drank four beers. [Please two of those were those fancy flights of four samples ordered at the brew pub, and you didn't finish that last Guiness-Ed]. Nevertheless....We were up at 7:30, about right for a weekend, but a touch hazy. Wesley College Will would think 50 Will a total beer wuss. He'd be right.
