Sunday Post Without a Good Idea

A rainy Sunday morning here in northern New Jersey.

We're looking forward to the professional football contests this evening. Andy Reid is very out-coachable, and we think this is Lamar Jackson's year. We like the Ravens over the Chiefs. The Lions will be aggressive (underdogs do not win these matches by being timid) and put up a good fight. But the 49rs are just more talented and will defeat the Lions by a few touchdowns.

We are recovering from ten hours of judging debate at the Ridge High School Invitational. Resolved: congress should repeal section 230. Oldest Daughter's topic: resolved the US should withdraw from the Middle East. Why yes, yes we should. This was the third time we've served as a judge. Dang, these kids are getting younger and younger every year. [That's not it -Ed]

The Israelis had a good week. The International Court of Justice ruling was decidedly mixed. To put it in American terms, they punted on the South Africa's genocide case against the Jews. Mr. we could use a man like PW Botha again. The Israelis made a massive purchase of equipment and munitions from the United States. The 'international community' has paused (don't you love their terminology?) funding to the UNRWA in Gaza. The IDF offensive in Khan Younis is going well with hundreds of terrorists killed. Israel has informed the Egyptian government of plans to attack Rafah next. Speaking of plans, several Lebanese news sources reports that an 'Arab government' has warned Hezbollah that an Israeli attack is coming soon. We do know that the Golani brigade, for example, is on the northern border.

There's talk in Israeli media of a ceasefire deal being 'close', maybe in the next two weeks. This strikes us as the amount of time the Israelis need to clear Khan Younis. The terms in the deal sound horrible to us. A four-month ceasefire, Israeli hostages to be released in phases in exchange for Palestinian terrorists. Why would the Israelis agree to this? We see no reason to change our mind about these negotiations being a bit of Israeli strategic misdirection.

We spent a lot of time fretting over World War 1990: The Final Storm and repeating the mantra, 'Just because we wrote it, doesn't mean it's good.' The reading public has read World War 1990: The Final Storm and likes what it reads. TFS has 76 ratings and enjoys a 4.4 star average. We are among the best there is at what we do.

As for good ideas for the week of 1/28/24, we got nuthin', people.
