Will's Good Idea for the Week of 3/10/24

Apropos of nothing we shaved our winter beard yesterday. We kept the mustache and sideburns. Oldest daughter thought we looked like Ed Kemper, but we don't think she meant it as a compliment. We took off the remaining facial hair.

We had an almost perfect day, yesterday, a day in which we accomplished everything we set out to accomplish. Writing, laundry, gym, and our first yardwork of the year.

The rain fell with biblical intensity yesterday. What did Governor Phil Murphy do to anger Ganesh and Shiva so?

We just looked down at the clock and saw the time is not 7 AM but 8 AM. Stupid government.

We can't help but notice it's March 10, Israel's hostage negotiation deadline. The Times of Israel has a write up of where negotiations stand. No agreement has been reached. Best guess: no deal.

Oh look, World War 1990: The Final Storm, has 150 ratings, 4.3 star average.

The Irish have comprehensively rejected a pair of Woke referenda about language and gender. Maybe Margaret Thatcher doesn't hate them so much in World War 1990: Thatcher's War.

Segue to Will's Good Idea for the Week of 3/10/24.

We've also been asked to contribute to a World War II alternate history. We've got ideas.

The Japanese land at Midway. An interesting concept. By June of 1942 Midway was a fortress. The Marines would have made short work of any Japanese landing. Do click that link.

The Japanese invade Hawaii. On December 7th the Japanese land a pair of divisions on Oahu's north shore. They fight their way south to Honolulu.

The New World, All its Power and Might. The American and various commonwealth navies converge on Nazi occupied Britain in, say, 1946. A concept we've talked about in this space before. We're still not sure how to make it work.

Ideas are also percolating for War Night: And Other Stories of the Great Nuclear War of 1975. In due time. We've got some major Poncho Villa juju going here.
