Saturday Updates

Enforced solitude continues.

What was supposed to be a light dusting of snow last night turned into a few inches of snow. The result was both annoying and angelic and blessed as the snow is yet more help for New Jersey's reservoirs. We gotta go shovel...well that wasn't such a chore. However our driveway doesn't get a lot of sun, so there'll be a thin layer of ice and crud for a while.

The usual suspects are performatively bitching about the House's Continuing Resolution. Just stop. These debt ceiling fights are lame and lead nowhere. The House GOP paired down the bill by 90 percent, stripping out all kinds of horrible things. This CR is a good win. Stroock's Books thinks Speaker Mike Johnson should keep his job.

The things.

Overall, the week went fine. Yesterday we read War Night's Australia story. We omitted needless words and also added necessary context. We'll read one or two stories today. Morning Rory awaits. War Night is close to being done.

We had a long, slow week with our Saigon on the Themes short story. The effort leaves us with 2000 words, most of which describe the situation, reference the Great Pacific War, and establish the main character, Admiral Mike 'Red' Readington.  Overall we are pleased.
