More blessed rain yesterday. Blessed rain now. Blessed rain later today. Take that, drought.
The Times of Israel reports on the Israeli's breathtaking destruction of Syria's military infrastructure. 'The military estimated that it had destroyed 70-80 percent of the former Assad regime’s strategic military capabilities.' The Israelis knew when and where to hit Syrian aircraft, ships, missiles, chemical weapons. This was the reverse Afghanistan withdrawal, Oran and Pearl Harbor rolled into one. Jolani's new Syrian army is a light infantry force with a few tanks. Another Netanyahu masterstroke. Tell us again that Bibi isn't the Lion of Judah.
The New York Post reports on a bizarre viral confrontation between former Packers great Brett Favre, and former Jets great Mark Gastineau: 'The clip, posted Tuesday, showed Gastineau, who blames the former Packers great for not being in the Hall of Fame, confronting Favre in 2023 and claiming the QB took “a dive” that allowed Giants star Michael Strahan to break the sack record in 2002, which Gastineau had once held.' Gastineau's not in the Hall of Fame? Why the hell not? Sorry, media, it doesn't matter if you like the guy, and who does? Gastineau was a dominant defender for most of the 80s and should be enshrined in Canton.*
We watched the Strahan sack record game and recall thinking with five or six minutes left that Strahan wouldn't get his sack. Then Favre took a dive, which was such a sentimental Brett Favre thing to do. He always did want everyone to be his friend. For the record, we always thought Strahan was a trash talking showboat who was good at compiling sacks but not necessarily good at getting sacks at crucial times. Without hesitation this blog would take George Martin or Leonard Marshall over Strahan. Yeah, it was a fake sack.
As for Gastineau, he himself was also a showboating jerk. He had a messy NFL career and messier private life. About Gastineau the less said, the better.
