Good Memorial Day morning, Stroock's Books associated reader(s) throughout North America and across the world.
We remain in our Berkshire Mountains stronghold, where the temperature is a brisk and un-Memorial Day like 48 degrees (F) not (C), and screw stupid European metric numbers.
It's been too cold to even take the boat out, forget getting in the water. Yesterday we occupied ourselves with some household tasks. The womenfolk went shopping, as is their wont, and later we barbequed.
We shall return to the New Jersey hinterlands this afternoon.
We got a nice comment from the leadership of this Blog's Confederate Contingent last night, who claims he himself is in occupied territory. We caught some of The Red Badge of Courage last night. Take that, you Johnny Reb.
Powerline recalls the 23rd anniversary of its founding. We ourselves recall Powerline's role in RatherGate, lo those 21 years ago. We mention this because 20 years ago, right-blogosphere was still patting itself on the back for destroying 60 Minutes' Bush National Guard story. Meanwhile, the left was building digital infrastructure and leaving the right in the dust. That was a 2005 Alive paragraph we guess.
Five Israeli divisions are in Gaza. Always the offensive is 'expanding'. The IDF is promising great things and dropping evacuation leaflets. We doubt much will happen and suspect the Israeli drive in Gaza (such as it is) to be a negotiating tactic. Meanwhile Trump asks the Israelis to wait. Honestly this might be the best strategy. Oh, and Happy Jerusalem Day.
DOGE Report: During the drive home we'll ponder World War 1990: The Managua Campaign, or whatever we're calling it. Valued reader Don McCrae suggested we do posts about our various research efforts, books, docs, etc etc. That's not a half bad idea. We finished rereading one of our Troubles books for the 3rd time. There's little more we can get out of it. World War 1990: Thatcher's War, is in pretty good shape. Twenty thousand (?) more words to go.
