Happy Sunday Christian faithful. Get yourself to church now. After you're Churchin' ya'll find a nice diner or buffet.
The Israelis are planning to attack Gaza City, they say. To do so the IDF will mobilize 250,000 reservists. Nonsense, we reply. This war is as good as over. All that's left is to negotiate the ceasefire. Ben Gvir and Smotrich are threatening to collapse the government. Good. You two will never hold a ministerial post again. We still believe Bibi has a puncher's chance to win an election. So Ben Gvir and Smotrich, we dare you. Guys, we're laughing at the superior intellect.
Look, there's lots of bad news. However, Trump is applying pressure on Hamas, as are the Arabs. So this blog believes that beneath it all, the diplomatic wheel is turning for Israel.
The New York Post editorializes about the Biden Regency's attempts to debank Trump. One day we will tell you people a story.
We're going down the shore this afternoon (Long Beach Island), as we say in our adopted home state of New Jersey. Longterm readers, such as they are, will recall the Stroock family has stayed at the same condo complex for nearly 50 years. Not this year. The Stroock girls need more space, and we're the only one who cares about the swimming pool anymore. This year we got a house. We shall see. Good news, though. Youngest Daughter's friend will be at said condo complex, so we can at least visit and commune with the ghost of vacations past.
We could use the break, the getaway. For reasons we can't quite explain, the air conditioning saga has taken a lot out of us. Also a few other issues this summer. We're punchy and nervous. In baseball terms we have the yips.
We'll have drive time and beach time, and therefore time to think about plots. Which brings us to Will's Good Idea for the Week of 8/10/25. How 'bout this: When the Missiles stopped: Stories of the Great Nuclear War of 1975 or Four Days After: Stories of the Great Nuclear War of 1975. Concept. The war lasted three days. This would be a compilation of stories about people the day the war ended. We'll see. We'll see if maybe we can crank one out during our down time this week.
In the meantime, enjoy the first four novels about The Great Nuclear War of 1975.
