We have returned from the beach to find a lawn which must needs be mowed and an icemaker jammed up with a gigantic chunk of ice.
It's good to be back.
We had a fine day at the beach yesterday morning and afternoon. The water was wavey and deep, but refreshing. The sun was strong.
On the way out yesterday evening we went to Bay Village to watch the sun go down, and then headed home, with the now customary stop at Chick fil-A.
In one week Oldest Daughter moves into Rutgers. The week after that Middle and Youngest Daughter go back to school.
The final phase of the Stroock summer has begun.
And in the rest of the world...
Lots of protests in Israel today. Which is fine.
Meanwhile the Israeli navy struck a Houthi power plant in Yemen. While we are impressed, the Houthi don't seem to care about losing infrastructure. Sometimes life imitates Israel Strikes: War of the Red Sea.
And we come around to Will's Good Idea for the Week of 8/17/25...We've got to change our work habits. Maybe this week we'll hit a coffee shop in the morning and work there.
We've got three items in the hopper, World War 1990: Thatcher's War, World War 1990: The Managua Campaign, and When the Missiles Stopped: Stories of the Great Nuclear War of 1975. Maybe this week we'll do a story in Missiles? We dunno, feels like Ludendorffing, when one follows buzz from idea to idea. But still...Also, finishing the Battle of Ardee seems like a good idea.
Any of you people got some story ideas for Missiles? Imagine, it's day four. The missiles have stopped. The war is over. What you got?
How does someone cope with surviving the missiles but their job is destroyed there is no more gas coming the electricity and water don't work anymore money is worthless now how fast do they learn to live without modern means and how do they learn the skills to survive
