Green on Orange and Black Day

Shabbat Shalom, Stroock's Books reader(s), and Happy Halloween.

So President Trump said the GOP should nuke the senate filibuster. Meh, he's said that before. We are sympathetic to arguments that the Dems will nuke the filibuster eventually, and if the GOP nukes it now, they'll pass all kinds of goodies. A national abortion ban, universal conceal carry, voter ID, etc, etc. We're sorry, do these people know the GOP? The GOP won't pass anything.* So na, keep the filibuster, and if the Dems kill it, they kill it. Exit question: was Trump playing 4D chess? Probably not.

More Trump: the president wants to resume nuclear testing. Trump being Trump, he'll probably demand we build and test the biggest nuclear bomb ever: the 20 Megaton Trump Bomba.

And...we're about to attack Venezuela? We laugh in Robert Ritter:

The Jerusalem Post reports that were the election held today, the Opposition Bloc would win 61 seats - without the Arab parties. Last week a poll predicted a majority for the Coalition. Nobody knows. Pollsters are making assumptions about what the electorate will look like on election day. They're guessing.

Speaking of....Beege Welborn at Hot Air is much more sanguine about Jack in New Jersey than we are. She has a good background and analyses of the race. We've gotten those phony voter info mailers she's talking about. Okay, so Jack began 20 points down and came roaring back to a statistical tie. We're just looking for that one thing to put him over the top and so far, we ain't seeing it. Sherrill by a nose.

DOGE report: Friday's usually suck creatively.

We did a quickie read of a short book about the Irish Ranger Wing. Pretty cool. Those guys are pretty bad-ass, a crack commando, personal protection, and anti-terror unit.

As noted yesterday, we read the first two Battle of Derry chapters, with one left to go. We're pleased with what we read. We still feel there's plenty of work to do, rough edges to smooth, details to include or fix. We're letting the critics get to us. They'll be out there, 'Why everybody knows that Malvern Terrace on the east Bank of the Foyle was considered neutral ground...' and the like. Reader(s) will get the idea.

The Irish are going to hate this book, whatever we're calling it. So will the Brits. Catholics and Protestants will unify against Will.  Look at us, bringing people together. And there's a not zero chance this book will result in our car being blown up. That's okay, our car is going on 11 years now and we could use a new one. Uneasiness remains.

Okay, we've read through the third and final Battle of Derry chapter. It's...okay, but needs clarification and articulation.

* See for example, Oilfield Rando.
