Friday Trans-Atlantic Blues and Jews

Good morning, Stroock's Books supplicants. Obeisance may be shown on that mat over there on the right.

We have beautiful autumnal weather today. We should do the leaves this weekend.

Baseball update: in the American League, the Yankees' Aaron Judge is MVP, rightfully so. This season he hit 53 homers and won the batting title. if Judge were less injury prone, he missed more than 50 games in 2023, he'd have slugged 50 homers four years in a row. In the National League, the World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani is MVP, also rightfully so. He hit a lot of homers and scored a lot of runs. Oh, and he can pitch too. Remarkable.

New York sports suckhole: The Jets actually didn't look that bad in their 27-14 loss to the resurgent New England Patriots last night. Actually, the Pats could have put the Jets away much earlier. By our eye their wide receivers had half a dozen bad drops and the Pats should have scored at least 31 points. So maybe the Pats didn't look that good. This was the first time we'd seen them all year. Drake Maye looked like a pretty good quarterback.

A good piece at Tablet on Tucker Carlson, Trump, and Pat Buchanan's legacy. Author Lee Smith points out what we've been pointing out since 2016. Trump's America First foreign policy and economic nationalism sounds a lot like the old Pat Buchanan of the 1990s. Smith even admits Buchanan was right about a lot of the economic issues. He also says Buchanan is an antisemite. We were there and we'll say it again, Pat Buchanan was not a Jew hater. He just didn't like them very much. The distinction is important. As for Tucker Carlson, he's talking about chem trails now. Thank you, Tucker, for making this so much easier. Tucker Carlson, you're nuts.

Reminder: the Golden age of Jews in America is over.

More Jews: This latest Israeli poll, in which respondents prefer Netanyahu to Bennet 42-32 and deliver a hung parliament, strikes us as bad news for the Opposition. And forget about Opposition leader Yair Lapid. He's down 47-21. The Israeli public knows a loser when it sees one. Likud still wins the most seats. This is good news, 'Finance Minister Bezal Smotrich’s Religious Zionism party would not pass the required 3.25% voter threshold to enter the Knesset...' The sooner Smotrich and Ben Gvir are out of the Israeli cabinet the better.

DOGE Report: So we sent three of our novels to a friend from a country which has an NFL team named after its ancestors. We mailed the package in mid-October, tracked it, and found it had reached REDACTED earlier this month. Frankly, we were concerned that we had mis-addressed the package. What does an American know about fru-fru European postal addresses, anyway? We were delighted to learn our friend received the package yesterday.

From New Jersey all the way to REDACTED. Skol!

Okay we think we know what's happening with Kenny and Aoife in the 5th nuke novel. According to Grok fallout would take about 24 hours to cross the Atlantic. Hmmm...

In World War 1990: Thatcher's War, the battle of Derry awaits. Not today.

Sales remain in the crapper. As is expected. But next year though....next year is gonna be a banger.
