Twenty years ago Today, Bush almost gave it all away....

It seems silly now, but twenty years ago we were completely stressed out about the upcoming election. After eight years of Clinton we really, really wanted George W Bush to win. 

This weekend Bush was dealing with the Dem's October Surprise. Turns out he'd been arrested for drunk driving back in the 70's. Bush's political flacks decided to keep it a secret. The campaign lost the final weekend dealing with the drunk driving charge. Thanks Karl Rove. Rove also told Bush to take it easy the last week of the campaign, better to lay low, lest he make a mistake. Imagine if W had crisscrossed Florida during the final few days. Think of it, a morning rally outside of Tallahassee, an afternoon rally outside of Miami, then to Orlando, after that Jacksonville...What might have been.

Would Gore's presidency have been all that different from W's? Gore would have invaded Iraq too or risk being labelled soft on terror by the GOP. Remember, Dems always need to get to the right of the GOP on security issues. JFK talked about the entirely fictitious 'missile gap'.B

Anyway....It's hard to remember what the election was even about. Prescription drug subsidies? Gun control? Social security lockboxes? The debates seem tame after Trump/Biden. But back then people were complaining that host Jim Lehrer couldn't control the candidates.

During the debates, Algore came off like a smug, know-it-all bully. Gore took up weightlifting in the mid-90s. This blog is convinced doing so made him aggressive and angry. It seemed the man was raging on testosterone. But the old Al Gore was a reasonable, if stiff, Southern Democrat. That version of Gore was sane. He'll get the Dem nomination in World War 1990: Election '92, a novel that will be about sane Democrats. By 2000 Algore was not sane.

The Katrina-Harvey Nexus

Those communists and sex-criminals in the media have been chomping a the bit to turn Harvey into President Trump's Katrina, even going so far as to criticize the First Ladies' choice of footwear.

Of course President Bush's greatest mistake with Katrina was not anticipating that the sexually-deviant media would pin it all on him.

We watched it unfold in real time.

First they tried to blame Katrina on global warming. Meteorologists pointed out that Katrina was not an especially powerful hurricane. Then they tried to say the ensuing chaos happened because Louisiana didn't have enough National Guard troops available. The Louisiana National Guard said they had plenty of troops.

Finally Mayor Ray Nagin had a live on air freakout over lack of federal help (we can't find the clip) This one stuck. Voila! Katrina was Bush's fault.

This is why one can never trust the lying sex-maniacs in the media.

Trump understands this.

Le Merde Le Elite Internationale

While we don't believe the polls showing an epic wipe out in France, I mean after Trump and Brexit who believes those, we don't see how a pretty boy centrist with a senior citizen wife can loose the French election.

That said,the crackup of the Consensus Internationale continues apace. As the great M Steyn points out, Marine will double the vote total her father got in the accidental election of 2002. With Macron in office there is no reason to think Le Pen won't finally slip into power in 2023.

Sarkozy-Hollande, Blair-Cameron, Clinton-Bush, what's the difference? They are all part of the same Consensus Internationale whose foreign policy favors super-national entities and what Steve Sailor calls 'invade the world/invite the world'.

Had one told us we would write that in 2000, when we felt the future of the Republic hung in the balance, well, we would have punched you in the face and given you some American Enterprise lit to read.

We can't speak for Macron, Hollande, Sarkozy, Chirac et all, but since the end of the Cold War this country has been run by elites with elite educations, a never ending cavalcade of degrees from Yale and Harvard, Harvard and Yale. How they doing?

Since 2000 we've had a series of foreign and economic crisis, the continued collapse of the American family, crumbling infrastructure, etc etc. Can't these people do anything right?

We were thinking about this yesterday, look at the Cold War presidents vs the modern elite.

Harry Truman went to 'commercial' college for a year before dropping out. Ike of course went to West Point. Kennedy went to Harvard, but his bootlegging father bought his way in. Johnson went to a teacher's college. Nixon attended Whittier. Ford starred at Michigan, Carter attended Annapolis, Reagan went to Eureka. Not until we get to Bush the Elder do we have a real scion of the elite.

Pretty pedestrian education there.

In 2008 the elite mocked Sarah Palin because she attended a vast array of small and state schools. Which batch of presidents do you think she fits in with? Of course the elites came up with the idea of giving unsecured, variable rate loans to bad credit risks. You think Sarah Palin would've thought of that? Think she would have said, 'You know guys, we have this Muslim terror problem, let's invite a lot of Muslim immigrants.' Also, she never drove a car off a bridge like certain scions of the elite.

Samantha Power has Blood on her Hands

Schmuley Boteach, known as Celebrity Rabbi in Stroock World, makes an excellent point:

Remember, these are the people who lambasted President Bush's foreign policy. These are the folks who just knew W. was a disaster, what with Iraq and all. Not to mention his siding with Israel against the Palestinians. Us Neocons thought we could remake the Middle East. Where we right? I dunno. Bush liberated Afghanistan and won the war in Iraq.

Let's have a look at Barry's results, shall we? Iraq once again a sectarian mess. Libya a jihadist disaster. Syria, well...Russia ensconced in the Middle East. Iran running Iraq. All before Samantha Power wrote her Genocide book 'A problem from hell.' Hell of a job there, Samantha.

Ok genius, you may ask, what would YOU have done.

Well, for starters I'd have crushed ISIS right off. We're not talking about winning an insurgency but destroying an enemy. ISIS meet the 82nd Airborne and their friends the 1st Infantry Division.

I would have negotiated a status of forces agreement with Iraq something Barry failed to do.

I wouldn't have begun speaking about 'red-lines' in Syria and then done nothing to back it up.

I would not have negotiated with Iran.

I would have supported Israel against the Palestinians.

I would not have listened to Samantha Power.
