Vive les Marquis de Lafayette! Marquis Nous Sommes Ici!

Lafayette's  tomb is located in a quite monastery in the eastern end of Paris. A plaque at the entrance commemorates Pershing's visit there in 1917. A trickle of people visit the site each day to pay homage to the Marquis. Washington loved him like a son. People leave tokens there. We saw tiny American flags, notes, and a jar of American soil from Philadelphia. We left five Washington quarters.
