We loved Scrubs, NBC's medical comedy launched in 2001. We loved everything about it as it evolved from a semi-serious dramady into a late-Seinfeldian farce.
Now we can't watch it.
Nothing, absolutely nothing- music, fashion, ideas - age worse than sit-coms.
Which brings is to the revival of Murphy Brown:
So yes, the revival, again run by Emmy-winning creator Diane English, is conscious that the world has changed in the 20 years since we last saw Murphy and friends. The problem is that Murphy Brown itself really hasn’t, and that does more to tarnish the real show’s legacy than anything else.
What the reviewer is trying to say, we think, is that Murphy Brown feels trapped in 1992.
Remember that? Dan Quayle? Single mothers? And oh yes, the smug-preachiness.
Also in 1992 news anchors and their shows really mattered. Not so much anymore.
We watched Murphy Brown. We liked Murphy Brown. Why not? Back then we were a conservative Democrat. But unlike Murphy Brown, we've changed.
Murphy Brown, The TV show that ridiculed Vice President Quayle* for suggesting children needed fathers, and then extolled the virtues of serial sexual predator Bill Clinton will 'take on #metoo':
Creator Diane English told reporters Sunday that the revival of the newsroom sitcom will address the #MeToo movement, while star Candice Bergen is bracing for President Trump’s response to the show.
She should be so lucky.
During the 2016 campaign Diane English's Super PAC worked very hard to elect Hillary Clinton, who invented the 'nuts and sluts' slur against the women her husband assaulted.
Remember, Feminism is always bad for women.
*By the way, Candace Bergin later said Dan Quayle was right.
