The Strange Case of Barry Soetoro

Via the NYTs we have Barrack Hussein Obama's official portrait:

We are no art critic, but we have eyes and have no idea what this painting is trying to convey. To our eye it looks like a piece of post modern crap.

The NYTs explains that the artiste:
Mr. Wiley has set Mr. Obama against — really embedded him in — a bower of what looks like ground cover. From the greenery sprout flowers that have symbolic meaning for the sitter. African blue lilies represent Kenya, his father’s birthplace; jasmine stands for Hawaii, where Mr. Obama himself was born; chrysanthemums, the official flower of Chicago, reference the city where his political career began, and where he met his wife.'
We've been meditating on the strange case of Barry Soetoro for some time now, much more so than when he was in office.

Sorry reader(s) but the 44th President of the United States is a deeply weird man. Others have made the following points but they ring true to us and bear repeating.

Obama was alleged to be a great orator but spoke in shallow clichés. He needed his teleprompter everywhere he went.

Obama was said to be worldly but didn't speak another language. Even W spoke Spanish. In preparation for our August trip we are teaching our self French.

'Bonjour Madam! Escu'vu compogne L'Anglais? J' nez pas Francais. J'suis American, mez compagne au'pu L'Frcanais. Au pu, ba'tre bien!'

[Oh aren't you a big boy. Wait till you realize French Fries aren't French-Ed].

Obama was supposed to be part of the global elite, but before politics accomplished little. He was a law professor of no note and an unsuccessful community organizer.

Obama spent decades in the Church of Jeremiah Wright and allowed himself to be photographed with the Jew-hating hate-Imam Luis Farrakhan. Neither seemed 'problematic' to him.

Let's go back to the painting for moment. The greenery is supposed to represent Hawaii, Chicago and Kenya.

Obama's supposed to be a Chicago man but all he can think of is the Wrigley Field Ivey?

Oh, and Kenya? Are they serious?

Obama never forged a close relationship with a foreign leader. W and Blair got on splendidly as did Clinton and Helmut Kohl. Of course Reagan and Thatcher, Churchill and Roosevelt. Long forgotten is the relationship between Kennedy and McMillian. Trump seems to be building a rapport with President Macron.

A shallow thinker who said jobs weren't coming back because ATMs were replacing bank tellers, medical costs were driven up by tonsil hunting doctors, and fully inflating our tires could save millions in fuel costs. Obama read these things somewhere. Maybe he heard about them on Colbert?
