In Norman England, sometime during the Conquest, a thane cannot defend his holdings or peasants from the ravages of Welsh border raiders. In desperation he travels to the near city of Chichester and recruits a Norman knight to help. Sir Robert de Hautville quickly recruits six other assorted Normans, Scots and Saxons to help the poor English villages.
