Monday Metal: Everything else Sucks

My friend Bill Katz remarks:
At one time we had beautiful popular music in this country, written by real composers like Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Meredith Willson, and Richard Rodgers. Our lyricists, like Lorenz Hart, Oscar Hammerstein II, Johnny Mercer, and that same Mr. Porter, were poets.
Let us stipulate that rap music is crap. It is not music. It requires zero talent. Let us also stipulate the skill and talent of mid-century composers.

But not all post 60's music is bad. Could Irving Berlin do this? Or this? Or this?

How many great singers has American Idol produced? Behold.

What's Jazz done worth mentioning in the last fifty years?
