Anniversaries on 9/11

The 9/11 anniversaries around here were weird for a while.

We recall the first two anniversaries.

In 2002 the day was rainy, cold and overcast. W gave a speech at ground zero and after went to the UN to make the case for liberating Iraq. The weather fit the day.

2003 was surreal for one simple reason. On that day we had the same weather as 2001. It was a perfect northeastern fall day. Sunny and crisp, just like in 2001.

We were driving to our teaching gig at a 3rd rate Yeshiva in Passaic* when WFAN's Mike and the Mad Dog began. Chris 'Mad Dog' Russo came on and went into his opening riff, 'Ahhhhhh Good afternoon everybody! How are you today!?' but stopped in the middle. It was 9/11 and the weather was the same as two years before and it was weird.

Those two were on air all day during 9/11. It was an infamous disaster. Go ahead and google it.

*Which is why we like making Orthodox Jews bad guys in our novels.
