On the 50th anniversary of Pearl Harbor President Bush gave an excellent commemorative speech. We recall watching this very clip back then:
In every way Bush was the man for the moment. He had flown against the Japs, been short down by them, and later attended Emperor Hirohito's funeral-himself a great man who, seeing the destruction of his country, personally intervened to stop it.
Was there a better symbol of reconciliation?
