At Woodstock 1969 and even 1994, the music mattered, man.
In the case of the former the festival was a showcase for the very best Rock and Roll had to offer, The Who, Hendrix, etc. Fifty years later one can listen to the soundtrack and get a feel for the moment, the cultural zeitgeist. Sure, there was plenty of crap on stage too (Sha Na Na), but still.
Now look at the failed Woodstock 2019 lineup. Miley Cyrus? Jay Z?
Of course rap isn't even music.
That's some zeitgeist.
