World War 1990: The Managua Campaign.
As already noted, why not take the Central American parts of Castro's Folly and make them the first section of a novel about the Contras, or we should say, Nicaraguan Freedom fighters, driving on Managua?
We envision a campaign like Afghanistan in 2001 except in the jungle. This would see U.S. Special Forces and CIA paramilitary types fighting alongside the Contras, calling in air strikes, etc, etc.
We could have the 92nd Infantry Brigade of the Puerto Rican National Guard flown in. That would probably have some interesting back story, no? And let's ponder what we could do with the Sandinistas.
