Ban Schools Not Guns Not Kidding

Our friend William Katz remarks:
Hard to know exactly what the poll [40 % of parents considering home schooling] means, but I'd guess that many parents now realize how little their kids have been getting from many public schools. This could start an educational revolution.
We earned our BA and MA online in the early 2000s, on a dialup, long before distance learning was cool. Here at Casa de Stroock the Stroocklettes get their online assignments, have Google meets with their classes and teachers and do a little extra work as assigned by ourselves. Youngest Daughter is learning multiplication and division, Middle Daughter is writing a lovely essay on Eisenhower. We're not really sure what the 13 year old is up to. Which is fine. We're done about noon.

Look, reader(s), we were a teacher, a HS sub, and a college prof, so we know a thing or two about schooling.

Big Education's dirty little secret, you really don't need us, not when the accumulated sum of all human knowledge is on the phone in your pocket.

Ah but what about socialization, the Karens snark. Maybe we're wrong. Heck, who doesn't miss high school? Who doesn't reminisce about the 7:15 start times, forced pep rallies, gym class, ducking the class thug, those wonderful boy's bathrooms and let us not forget the intense social pressure. Good times...good times....

You're doing it better, folks. We guarantee it.
