Republican Mike Garcia is leading Democrat Christy Smith by 12 points with 85% of precincts reporting in CA-25. That's a nearly 18,000 vote lead. There's still a lot of mail-in ballots to be counted, but as the great Hugh Hewitt once said, 'If it's not close, they can't cheat.'
Garcia is a former F-18 fighter jockey running in a district that Hillary won by six points to fill a vacancy created when Freshman Dem Katie Hill had to resign for schtooping a staffer. #Metoo. Remember Stroock's rules about elections: Circumstances, Ideas, Candidates. The GOP had 2/3.
Elsewhere in California, the AP reports:
Republican Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez won a special election Tuesday to fill a Southern California state Senate seat. Melendez got about 56% of 170,000 votes counted and defeated Democrat Elizabeth Romero, a member of the Riverside County Board of Education and administrator at the University of California, Riverside.
Meanwhile Republican Tom Tiffany romped in WI-07's special house election.
None of these races were even close.
Tell this blog again about how Trump and the GOP are in trouble.
Outro, dedicated to our own Tom Malinowski D (NJ07). Staffers, when you looking for work next year, we could use an editor and proofer. Must be brunette or redhead:
