No. No. Absolutely Not. No. Well Maybe...No!

Attack of the 50 Foot Communist rough draft complete, Comrades. We don't have the gigantic two billion euro steel megadome over it yet, but yeah, we're in graet shape.

God damnit. Some of you people are trying to goad us into writing the space carrier dreadnought thingy knowing full well it will be a short story at first and about 10,000 words in we'll decide, you know, to really flesh this thing out...

The Centaurians are a little more advanced than humanity. They've figured out cosmic string theory and can open up jump gates. Sol's gate is too close to the sun, but fortunately for them, Jupiter has enough mass that it has a gate too...which is how the Centaurians were able to take both the Galilean and Saturnian moons.

Earth and Mars have to unite to drive the Centaurians out.

This is more or less what we want to do in 2543, remember that...?

You see, 2543 is supposed to be a speculative novel. What do we think things might be like in 400 years? We don't think fleets of space carriers will be launching fighters and bombers as it makes no sense in space and isn't really feasible. Also we don't think Earth will be united under one government.

This other thingy will be fun...

[Will?...Ed]

But not speculative. It's not like we don't already have a zillion things to do. Go read Wing Commander or Honor Harrington, or something.

What we need is one last short story to put in the compilation. Maybe two. So for June...
