Memorial Day Movies

For about 30 years now, Memorial Day has been an excuse for TV networks to run a lot of war movies. Anyone else remember Operation TNT after Desert Storm? Below are our five favorite war movies:

The Caine Mutiny (Loyalty is everything)
Air Force (High adventure in the opening days of WWII)
They Were Expendable (Slow doom)
Back to Bataan (Good fun and Filipino nationalism)
12 O'clock High (A study on leadership)

And here's our least favorite war movies:

Saving Private Ryan (a nihilistic nightmare)
Battle of the Bulge (So bad, Ike publicly disavowed it)
Gettysburg (Speeches, battles, more speeches, sentimental)
