Monday Metal

This blog has no insights and nothing to ad to current discussion of Little Richard. 

We'd like to share a story though. There's a wonderful scene in Hail Hail Rock & Roll, the greatest rock-doc ever made, where Mr. Berry is talking about 50s TV with Little Richard and BB King. Alan Freed, who coined the name rock and roll, wanted to have them on his rock and roll TV show. Naturally the suits resisted. Freed said look, if I don't have these top acts on my show I lose all credibility with the kids, Quite right. To which Little Richard added, 'That little Jewish boy got us on television!'

Rest his sweet soul. 

Needless to Little Richard was a huge influence. In some surprising places. Just watch:
