World War 1990: Saddam's War

The plan for World War 1990 is one book to continue the narrative and one book dealing with something earlier in the narrative. Hence World War 1990: The Final Storm and World War 1990: Nederland. After The Final Storm, by plan, we'd do a throwback novel, probably The Weser. Of course there's no reason why we couldn't write the novel, get it formatted and put it out when we're goddam good and ready while we complete other projects. Why not?

But our Confederate readership mentioned Saddam's War, so let's put some thought into that.

We could make Saddam a major character*, maybe Uday and Qusay. We think we'd NPC the Iranians. There'd be a an Israeli POV character, almost like the German guy in Patton. Probably the US Ambassador in Riyadh reporting back to Washington. There will be absolutely no DC scenes. No more Bush cabinet meetings!

We'd want plenty of Iraqis. We think a division commander who's trying to emulate NATO style maneuver tactics. Perhaps there'd be some guy who was in Europe in some capacity. Maybe a Western advisor? Or maybe a Soviet? An East German officer whose fled?

Ah, ideas, ideas. You see, we're very good at what we do, so we have, like, ten good ideas a day.

Okay, Three Seas, Nederland, The Final Storm...Saddam's War? Maybe.

*And researching him might give us fodder for an Austrian Painter type book.
