[He's not kidding , people-Ed]
It's been Tara without Scarlett O'Hara here. We need womenfolk around the house to set us right.
Fortunately they'll be coming back today.
We have stopped listening to French, at least for the time being. It's been over two years, and we're just not getting it. We've stuck with the French becuase it's something useful to do while folding laundry or driving and we didn't want to lose the already large investment of time. Maybe a few weeks off for our brain to sort things out? Maybe we should have gone to Spain.
On to business. July sales of all books:
Just another great month. The light blue is Three Seas and most of the other colors are the other books in the World War 1990 series. We had a sales spike at the end. The bottom line here is sales remain strong. And people wonder why we're sticking with this series.
Speaking of, our line proofer has finished World War 1990: Nederland. We're still planning to release it in December. Also speaking of:
The Great Nuclear War of 1975 is 65,000 words. We're almost done with the Korean War chapter and we are writing the character narrative thread. We still don't know where he's starting or going to. But it's coming along. We're kinda sorta on track to be finished by the end of the summer. Note how we're giving ourselves wiggle room. Summer ends on 21 September. We're actually wondering if this book is going to sell. The Austrian Painter did, but still.
This being August we had planned to sneak in and write a Final Storm chapter. We're not sure which one yet. But we'll do it. Maybe the Kazakh coup.
We've spoken to many of you people about what to write in 2021 and there's a strong argument being made for the Defend the Earth universe. We've always been reluctant to write a third novel, due to the failure of To Survive the Earth. Some of you people, particularly the hockey* and NASCAR fans have broken it to us that TSTE just didn't sound that interesting. We have to admit, we never considered that.
There's still lots of time for hemming and hawing about what we're writing. But lets say it's coming down to Putin's War, the US-Iran thingy, and To Liberate Mars.
For that matter we plan to finish The Final Storm this year and get it out next year.** Which WW1990 novel should we write in 2021? We're sorely temped to do Election '92. We can backtrack later and do Esercito Italiano, Saddam's War, etc etc. Heh, that might all be determined by how well Nederland does in the Dutch market.
*We watch just enough hockey to know all the words to Oh Canada.
**We plan, god laughs. For as it is written in the Talmud: We plan, god laughs.
