Over at Hot Air, Ed Morrissey, whom we've read since 2003 when blogged at Captain's Quarters, says he's no longer a Republican. Ace says that's been true of Morrissey since 2015. Morrissey's mad about Trump contesting the election, as if it wasn't stolen before our eyes. He talks about duty, republican virtues, blah, blah, blah. The Dems turned the streets over to racist, fascist mobs and stole the 2020 election and Morrissey wants to go on about fidelity to small 'r' republican principles. Remember, Ace is always right. Morrissey and his ilk will be blabbing away about small 'r' principles when Antifa is lining them up against a wall.
Even at a time like this, some Republicans need to be respectable. It's just baffling. We tore a friend of ours a new one over this a few months ago and after a hard talk told him it was time to do the right thing and register as a Dem. This friend of ours works for an industry that will be hurt by Harris/Biden. We hope he enjoys the knew regulations.
We weren't planning to talk about stuff like this till inauguration week, but as Prime Minister McMillan said, 'events, dear boy, events.' We said we'll never vote again. And we mean it. But that doesn't mean we won't have to deal with the left from time to time.
The best advice we can give, stop being polite. Don't let people get away with knocking Trump or the Deplorables or America at meetings, parties and the like. We've told this story before, but a couple years ago we were in a waiting room in Massachusetts when a woman walked in and made a big deal about Fox News being on the TV. She thought she could get away with it. We shredded her. 'What, you want to put it on fake news CNN, like you have fake Indian senators up here? Me white man, trade big wampum.' And don't be nice about it. Be disrespectful, belittle the bastards. We've warn a MAGA hat practically everywhere we go since George Floyd was murdered, an act of defiance. We dare someone to do something about it.
The time for mutual respect and civility has passed. There's a certain type of Republican who just doesn't get that. And never will.
We've lived through two Republican Revolutions, the Gingrich in '94 and the Tea Party in 2010. When it started we were debating gays in the military. At the end we're arguing over bathrooms and pronouns. When the GOPs had the presidency, house and senate from 2017-2019 Ryan, McConnel and company did....what? Conservative Republicans have conserved nothing and won nothing.
That's why we're not a Republican anymore either. How's them principles, Ed?
