A nice easy hour on the treadmill yesterday. It's getting downright breezy. We spent time thinking about The Final Storm, which is how things get written. Weights the day before. Tomorrow is our weigh in and pic day and will probably post. Off today, we think. Unless we get really bored this afternoon.
The negotiations in Israel continue. This blog does not see how the anti-Bibi bloc can form a government. The nation remains deadlocked, just the way Bibi wants. Even this blog is getting sick of the man. Can they resurrect Arial Sharon?
The ideas for the Great Nuclear War of 1975 keep coming. A reader suggested something with the French, which is not a bad idea. There will be a conventional/nuclear war in Europe, managed by NATO commander General Al Haig (you have to be a certain age to appreciate that one). The British developed into a full-on side plot in '75. We can't recall what the French are doing, probably being intransigent as usual. Exit question, did the British and French fire their nukes as well?
Ok, so far we're writing some setup scenes in The Final Storm. The president on Air Force One, the Vice President arriving at Raven Rock. We think we'll start the action with Task Force 60. A-6's launching off the carriers, missile after missile firing from the fleet, and USS Montana. That's gonna look pretty cool.
We're writing two nuclear related parts in two different novels at once, and it's occurring to us that the grognards will come out for them. 'Why everyone knows that the SIOP called for the president to be transported to NORAD while the Vice President went to Mount Pony...' and so on. There will be plenty of that. Plans are great. They're fun to make.
In case of nuclear war, the Supreme Court was to be evacuated to someplace in North Carolina, we think. When Justice Earl Warren was told his wife couldn't come he told the planners to buzz off and even refused to participate in drills. We plan, god laughs. For as it is written, we plan, god laughs.
Need we recall the complete Federal breakdown on 9/11, panic, fear, ineptitude?
*With respects to Olivia Newton John.
Are you talking about the battleship BB-67 Montana? Always a great what if, kind of a super Iowa
ReplyDeleteOh, no. Ohio class boat. I had them modify one in the 80s. Someone pointed out that the Franklin in real life was modified that way. Oh well. Already mentioned it in 3 Seas.
