Will's Good Idea for the Week of 6/27/21

Ahhh...End File indeed. A most based reference pickup from this blog's Confederate Contingent, who is also a fan The General series written by SM Stirling and David Drake. We read it in 1997.  Just a brilliant work. We were always horrified by the orgy of looting and rape.  At the end of the series, one of the supporting characters writes a history of the main character, Raj Whitehall and his Times.

Which brings us to Will's Good Idea for the week of 6/27/21. What if we wrote, General Sir George Hackett style, a history of World War 1990? An interesting idea. See also Hector C. Bywater's The Great Pacific War, a Tom Clancy like technothriller written in the 1920s about a war between America and Japan. We see it's back in print...

Anyway, no we're not adding it to the list, but it's a fun idea. 'There were great tensions between Schwarzkopf and Franks. These came to fore at the Battle to Point Wilderness, with Franks insisting, 'I cannot pursue Ivan until he runs!' After the battle, an exasperated SAUCER asked Powell to come to Europe and mediate. For his part, Rupert Smith was amused by the internecine sniping between the victorious American generals.'

Well this is interesting. We just looked at yesterday's sales totals and Israel Strikes: War of the Red Sea spiked massively. There's no Instalanche, so what's up? We feel like a 15 year old trying to unhook his girlfriend's bra, fumbling and mystified. Best guess: the Amazon algorithm. There is also the possibility that Mossad is manipulating things. They're clever, the Jews.

  1. A companion book on the series would be awesome a handy reference book on its characters and locations and battles

  2. Good Evening Mr. Stroock,

I know that you're currently working on "The Weser" (Probably *my* most awaited book in the series) but I just finished a book that I think will be a good piece of source material for you with regards to "Final Storm"

    - "For Alert Force... Klaxon, Klaxon, Klaxon" WWIII Through The Eyes of SAC Warriors, An Alternate History by Jim Clonts.

    - Mr. Clonts was a former Radar/Navigation Officer with over 2200 Hours in the B-52. His novel is quite long, and follows B-52 pilots on a conglomeration of missions - culminating in a final all-out nuclear strike on the USSR (not to spoil everything) and the mission profile includes everything that a SIOP-certified 80s/90s B-52 would've used, from AGM-86 ALCMs, to SRAMs and B83 Gravity Bombs. I personally think it would be a great addition to your personal library for writing sources.

    Thanks,
    Tyler
