Will's Good Idea for the Week of 7/25/21

With the success of The Weser, a summer sneak in novel for 2022 seems more and more viable. Which one do you want, people? Plenty of ways to go. It wouldn't be a World War 1990 novel. Putin's War? USA vs Hezbollah and Iran (our inclination at the moment)? Israel Strikes: Will is out of Ideas? Get whacky and do another To Defend the Earth? Okay, we suppose we could do World War 1990: Guards Tank Army, or something. For the first time a Soviet-centric novel seems viable.

The administration's vaccine campaign has been a jumbled, disorganized mess of conflicting messages. We know a hell of a lot about successful advertising and the Biden Administration doesn't. Get vaxxed but you still need a mask is not a great sales pitch. Neither is Diverse doctors and public health types speaking slowly and condescending to viewers like we're six years old. Fauci shutting the fuck up would be a big help. This isn't a red/blue thing either. The vaccine rate among African Americans is below 25% last we checked, below 35% with Hispanics. As we've told friends, either you'll get the vax or you'll get Covid. The choice is yours.

Hunter Biden is selling 'art', Tony (Two Guns) Podesta is a lobbyist for Huawei, and the NSA spied on Tucker Carlson. The brazenness is the point. And you people wonder why this blog doesn't take the American justice system seriously.

What Will's Watching, the Olympic Opening Ceremony: Meh. We wanted more Japanese stuff. There was some Japanese stuff, but not enough. Overall, the ceremony seemed conceptual in a very European sort of way. We caught skateboarding yesterday. Seriously, you're a 30 year old man and this is what you do?* When are you going to adult? We're sure it's very hard, but skateboarding just doesn't translate well to TV viewing. Lame. We switched to women's volleyball, which was much more interesting. We caught the end of the Purple Haired Misanthrope vs New Zealand. Or was it Australia? We won, damnit. Yesterday we emailed our KGB handler in Moscow and asked, 'Maxim, don't you miss Cold War Olympics?' We had to beat those Commie Bastards.

*We have a friend who was into skateboarding when he was a kid and he still likes to skateboard, you know, with his son.
