Sunday without a Good Idea

My father-in-law, after a long illness, which is why Mrs. Stroock has been away all week.

A commenter correctly answered yesterday's question. That's a screen shot from Elton John's Nikita.  ' Counting ten tin soldiers in a row...oh no. Nikita you'll never know...' Good luck getting that out of your head today. You're welcome.

Over at Small Dead Animals, a fellow North American comments on the Canadian Trucker Convoy. Scroll down to 'The Edmontonian'.

In The Final Storm, though things are overall fine, there's something about the Kremlin assault that's just not quite right. We have four Chinooks and four 16 man teams. General de la Billiere goes in with them. The SAS Rgt had previously used Australian codenames, Dingo, Canberra, Perth, etc. I may change them as they may not work with this format.

I have twice tried to work the Australian SAS into World War 1990 and failed both times. No, they can't come along now. That'd be a lot of work, lots of character intro, etc. Longtime reader(s) will recall we began ANZACs with the idea that the Aussies would drive on Hanoi and the Aussie SAS would drop into the city, but we thought, we're already planning an SAS raid on an enemy capital. Then we thought, why not drop them on a Soviet ICBM base? But that wouldn't work at all. Explosives aren't going to disable ICBM missile caps and the SAS would never be able to fight their way inside a command point and there was one big missile base in the Soviet Far East anyway.
