In conversation with an English author, we noted that the WWII Eastern Front isn't our specialty. We're still, rather slowly, working on a book about the fall of the Soviet Union. Perhaps a summer reading project on the Ost Front? Hmmm....

Speaking of summer...May approaches, as is its wont. Not that you can tell from our 40-50 degree weather (that's F not C, Euros). Spring in the Northeast is just lovely, isn't it? Anyway, after May comes June, and that puts us in the summertime and that means the Summer Sneak In. Or does it?

Man, we keep thinking of crap we should have done to or added to The Weser. Not that it's too late, but still. This is why we have long pauses in the writing process.

Moving on to France...as expected Le Pen is polling much better against Macron than last time...but Macron is still ahead. They'll debate on Sunday. Maybe Le Pen can get in some hits. We'll see. Even so, we think Macron wins.

Yesterday we had a contractor over to talk about mold remediation. He wanted $149 just to give us an estimate. We sent him away, sent him away with extreme prejudice. A few minutes later the supervisor called and wanted to know what the problem was. We gave the sup a piece of our mind, 'Unfortunately for you we were flooded during Ida last year and know damn well that no one wants $149 up front for a mold remediation estimate.' 

Then we heard rumblings from Mrs. Stroock's office upstairs. Her desk chair squealed, she arose, and came slowly, deliberately down the stairs like a woman who knows she is not one with which to be messed.  'Give me the phone...'  Decorum prevents us from describing what happened next. Let's just say that Colonel William Kilgore is the Mrs. Stroock of the air cavalry world.
