The Thursday Downer, Post Academic Retrospective Edition

So what happened the week after finishing our degree at American Military University? Not much.

Recall, we were a fulltime student. Our side gig was cooking, cleaning, etc etc. The main gig was over.

We woke up that Monday with...nothing to do.

Yes, we were looking for a job. That Monday we sent out some applications, one to be a copy man for a halogen headlight company. All that work to be a headlight copy man?

After mailing out resumes, we broke out a history book and began reading, a history book arguing that fall of the Roman Empire was due to military decline.

On Monday we felt oddly tired. Tuesday was weird. By Wednesday We were in a full-on melancholy.

Was 28 years too old to not understand what was happening? Huh.

We recall former NFL coach Bill Cowher talking about winning the Super Bowl and just wanting to head home after the game.

We know what was happening now.

We had the same feeling almost exactly ten years earlier when our high school production of South Pacific ended. We vividly recall standing at the foot of the stairs at home and saying one of our lines, which no longer had any meaning after four months of hard work. It was all over and...then what?

This was let down.
