Beach Bunny, an Accidental Review

Last night we took Oldest Daughter and a friend to the Filmore in Philadelphia (about an hour away) to see her favorite band, Beach Bunny. A girl and three guys, Beach Bunny comes off like pop on the radio, but absolutely rocks live. The amps are up, the guitars are distorted, the power chords are prevalent. Lots of G to D to C and so forth. Wikipedia describes them as power pop. Okay. lead singer Lilli Trillo knew how to work the crowd. Beach Bunny was tight and brought lots of energy. They played maybe a dozen songs and were out after an hour and twenty minutes. We would see them again.

The Filmore is a great venue, just off of 95 on the Delaware River. We'd estimate the crowd at a thousand plus. These were mostly high school and college kids. We saw some nice couples on dates and kept thinking, 'Dude, she's giving you the green light.'  We were amongst dozens of parents who hung out in the unofficial parental section, the bar in the back. We saw the smoke and later smelt the marijuana.

Here's a live gig we found that captures what we saw last night:
