New Jerseyans are still doing this, huh? Via the NY Post: 'It’s quite a Hail Mary! A pair of New York football fans have called an audible in their pie-the-sky $6 billion class-action lawsuit against the Jets, Giants and the National Football League. They’ve amended their suit that initially demanded both teams pack their pads and leave the Garden State for the Big Apple.'
We haven't seen these in a loooong time, but back in the day one would spot New Jersey Giants* bumper stickers on the way to Giants Stadium. Actually, this blog agrees that the Giants should be deported back to where they came from, and the Hudson River crossings blown up so they can't return. The Giants have sucked for a decade. Screw them.
One never saw New Jersey Jets bumper stickers. Nobody wanted to take ownership of them. The jets moved to Giants Stadium from Shea (in Queens) in 1984, and a lot of people think doing so put a kind of mental block on the team. The Jets' fanbase is primarily on Long Island and Statton Island. One doesn't see too many of their kind in New Jersey, thank God. Getting to Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands has always been a haul for those people. In the 2000s there was a plan to build a Jets Stadium in Manhattan, which would have been great for the franchise but insane in every other way.
We mock the Jets, but the franchise is in better shape than the Giants. Which is just amazing. Below, footage of the greatest quarterback in Jets history:
