Hobbs and Roe Supplemental

It was ten years ago next week that I received the biggest political gut punch of my life. I was administering a history final, preparatory to the annual Stroock trip to Rehoboth Beach. I knew the court was ruling on Obamacare that morning. At ten I queued up Drudge and went to the bathroom. When I returned, I saw the Drudge red text headline. Roberts had saved Obamacare.

Ten years later Roberts has voted to uphold the Mississippi anti-abortion law(for a 6-3 decision) and to uphold Roe (5-4). Shapiro is irate.

Whatever.

Abortion is now illegal in several states.

There is no reason to show magnanimity. They wouldn't. And they're not taking it well. Already mobs are gathering before the court. The fences are up. The riot police are deployed. We'll see what happens.

Remember, had Never Trump and the establishment GOP had its way Roe would stand right now. Trump's three appointments made the difference. One may be disappointed in the gun bill that passed the senate, but it's a pretty small deal compared to Roe being overturned. So lay off Senator McConnell. Cocaine Mitch snorts coke and confirms Supreme Court justices, and he's all out of coke.

The GOP now has an incredible opportunity. The GOP, once the Abolition party, can become the natalist party. Propose pro-family laws. Mandate family and medical leave. Become the party of babies and motherhood and families.

In the meantime, the left will rage.
