We awoke this morning wondering, 'How's The Final Storm going to fuck us today?' It's Soviet Asia week here at Stroock's Books. That means those damn Australians and their Yank commander. A joke's in there somewhere. I had to go back and re-read World War 1990: ANZACs. I hate re-reading published work. File and forget as the great Robert Stacy McCain says.
Oh, for fek's sake. The editor wants more Trump stuff. I sigh in resignation. [Are you complaining? Last month you were saying you were bored-Ed] No, I am not complaining.
The New American Order is better than The Aftermath of 1976.
Thoughts and prayers Dallas Cowboys. Thoughts and prayers.
Yesterday would have been Roe vs Wade's 50th birthday. Roe is dead. Babies are alive.
Israel National News reports: 'The Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah has dramatically increased its presence on Israel’s northern border, according to a report by Yediot Aharanot Monday.' Things are getting busy on the border, eh? Meanwhile the Israelis want to buy 25 F-15Xs and upgrade their existing F-15 fleet. We're not going to predict war is imminent. For who can really know the mind of the Jew? [That's you, knobhead-Ed]. But folks are sure acting like war is imminent, ain't they?
Neocon is gonna Neocon. At 19FortyFive Michael Rubin says, 'If the world allows Russia to remain a unitary state and if it allows Putinism to survive Putin, then Ukraine should be allowed to maintain its own nuclear deterrence, whether it joins NATO or not.' It's almost as if the Neocons want a nuclear war. Before times, skilled diplomats understood that nations have interests. Nations also have pride. Stepping on that pride is never a good thing. We suggest Doctor Rubin pick up a copy of Harold Nicholson's The Congress of Vienna to see how skilled diplomats put Europe back together, and pushed Russia out of central Europe, after 25 years of upheaval.
The New York Post tells us: 'A Fox News meteorologist was pummeled by a group of teens when he tried to stop them from harassing another straphanger on a Manhattan subway early Sunday, cops and the prognosticator said.' Mister. we could use a man like Bernard Goetz again.
Monday Metal. In the spring of 1996 we saw The Gathering Field play at the Grog and Tankard in Washington DC. This was a northeast band out of Pittsburg that toured a lot and put out some albums but never quite hit it big. The Gathering Field are/were a very mid-90's band, very Gin Blossoms. Which is fine. We always remembered one song from that night we saw them. We didn't remember the name of the song or the refrain. But we did remember one line, 'Here comes the sunshine.' On a whim we emailed them yesterday, an hour later we heard back. Turns out they were doing a cover of Mathew Sweet's Divine Intervention. Here's The Gathering Field playing Divine Intervention live. Here's Mathew Sweet. Fuck yeah:
