We wake, read the New York Post, and see nothing but grim news. Zerohedge isn't much better. Baaah! [swipes at air]. Maybe we're just being dramatic.
The womenfolk returned from their grand shopping expedition with lots of stuff. Mrs. Stroock got us a new windbreaker. Also, Chick-Fil-A. Mmmm...bad for you. But probably not as bad as McDonalds. Mmmmm....Big Mac. If we're going to risk a gout attack it ain't gonna be for a Big Mac.
Israel's Knesset will have its first reading of Prime Minister Netanyahu's Judicial reform bill tomorrow. An op-ed in the Jerusalem Post describes Israel's 'Jurisdocracy'. A distant relative allowed us to post this pic he took from one of the anti-reform rallies this weekend.
Meanwhile, action in Syria over the last few days as Israel bombed something, somewhere. Israel Radar reports: 'The strike apparently targeted anti-aircraft systems and high-precision missile components at Iranian militia sites south of Damascus, Ynet reports. The damage inside the city was caused by a misfired Syrian anti-aircraft missile, the report says, citing Middle Eastern sources.' The Syria thing is a heck of a story.
Iran has twice in the last few months attacked Israeli owned ships. These efforts seem almost feeble. Israel Radar also says the Iranians will attack Jews throughout the world in case of war: 'Iran plans to activate terror cells to kill Jews overseas if Israel attacks Tehran’s nuclear program. The Iranians are mapping Jewish communities and will mobilize hit squads if Israel strikes, The Jewish Chronicle reports.' Life imitates Israel Strikes, where the Iranians attacked a synagogue in Berlin. We have the sight.
Moving on to the English speaking world, The Telegraph has a devastating editorial on Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland's departing First Minister, and her mismanagement of the nation's health, schools, public services, tranz issues - the lot. Sturgeon's greatest casualty may be Scottish independence, which is hilarious. Scottish independence always was the biggest bluff this side of Quebec. The nation is more Trainspotting than Braveheart. What would those lay-abouts suck on without the English tit? Aye, a subject of the crown ye were born. A subject of the crown ye will die. God save the King. Outro:
Concluding with Will's Good Idea for the Week of 2/19/23...It's Norway week here at Stroock's Books. We'll be working on the Soviet's grand assault on the Trondheim/Froy line region. Doing so jumps ahead of a few potential targets. But it's probably the best way to make work what I want to make work in World War 1990: Norway.
