Out to dinner with friends last night. We had the burger. No gout so far. We actually had not one but two beers. Which gave us a headache later. What's up with that? Despite getting Dunkin Donuts in the morning, the girls were allowed dessert. Their grandfather, when informed, was pleased.
We actually spent Saturday morning being bored, till we went to the gym. Before times, we used to treat Saturday and Sunday like any other day and would work till the afternoon. We don't watch much TV, we don't really have hobbies anymore. We miss the life where we did as little as possible at school/work and were amused at night by TV, tabletop wargames, and a sci-fi novel. Since we're skirting the border of Thursday Downer territory, we'll move on.
We will say we need a reading project. In years past we read a bunch of books about the Confederacy or Russia. Last summer our reading project was 20th century Britain. We await the spark, the flash of inspiration. It always comes out of nowhere. 'You know what sounds interesting? The history of Bolivia.' The spark is weird like that. Speaking of...
Will's Good Idea for the Week of 3/12/23. As we hammer away at World War 1990: The Final Storm, the mind wonders about the nuke novel universe. Once again we think a short story compilation taking place in 1975 and a short story compilation taking place after 1981 are good ideas. Hmmmm...Maybe Matt Junior burying his dad in, say, 1999, or something. This would be a good way to show what life is like for the average American. We got a hunch the 75 compilation will be dark and depressing.
It's going to be a great week for World War 1990: The Final Storm. We're doing two things. We're writing the emergency alert chapter. That is, people running around like headless chickens when the broadcast goes live. Also, we'll be editing the chapter in which the SAS attacks REDACTED. Let's see if we hit 90,000 words this week.
