Saturday Updates

God save the King. Congrats, Charles. You made it. On a Royal note, we have a vague memory of watching Charles and Di's wedding. It's remarkable how these people manage to accompany one through one's life, isn't it?

We're planning on a lazy Saturday reading about The War Between the States.

Twenty years ago this morning we drove into Manhattan and met with our father and grandfather at Frank Campell Funeral Chapel to work out funeral arrangements for our grandmother. Once everything was set, the mortician asked for payment. Our grandfather handed him a credit card and said, 'Put it on this one, I get airline miles on it. Why not?' Frank Campell's has been burying Stroocks for over a century.

The things.

As of this moment, The New American Order is #5 in its Amazon category. We are among the best there is at what we do.

We remained delighted with the new World War 1990: Polish Storm cover. We await completion of the World War 1990: Polish Storm re-formatting. From there we'll put our people to work on the covers of Three Seas, Nederland, and The Weser.

We tweaked World War 1990: The Final Storm a bit. Is May the month? Maybe. Ha!

Every day we worked on War Night's first short story, about a television newsroom trying to keep things together the night of the war. The story is coming along splendidly. 4,000 words. We've no idea what story to do next.

We're still thinking about The Confederate Adjutant: What if the South Won the Civil War? The CSA is moribund, economically backward, semi-socialist, run by a ridiculous and incestuous hereditary elite.

Things we know about this universe. Breckenridge was the next president after Davis. The CSA tried to take Cuba and the Brits smacked them down. Still has slaves. Lots of laws and subsidies to big plantations for keeping slaves.

Yes? No? We dunno.

  1. I don't think there would be slaves cotton was dieing out back then because of soil depletion and boweivls it wasn't till after WW2 that cotton made a come back with insecticide and better fertilizer plus you forget my people would always be worried the north would come back so their would be a push to industrialize instead of supporting big plantations I also think for the same reason Texas would stay loyal to the rest of the South afraid that the Yankees would come back race relations would be more like the Jim Crowe era but slowly improving over time
