The First Monday After 50 Week

Our second Monday morning here at the Stroock Northern Strategic Direction. This week we’ll be tackling some administrative odds and ends, fixing a few things around the house, and dealing with mold in a closet. The tree guy is coming today to prep the half dozen trees we’re taking down. We suspect outdoor landscaping is the next big project here.

While rummaging we found our grandmother’s recipe stash, a tin box stuffed to the gills with magazine cutouts and cursive notecards. We put the girls to work, and they found several lost recipes including a steak marinade we loved as a kid, zucchini soup, Matza ball soup, and the sacred homemade chocolate sauce which is a bit a chocolate extract and lots of sugar. She served it every Sunday. We’re wondering if we won’t like the chocolate sauce as an adult.

Monday (not) Metal…We’ll everyone’s talking about Jason Aldean’s (we’d never heard of him till last week, heh) Try that in a Small Town. Okay, this blog supposes that’s a nice sentiment. But maybe small-town folk should try ‘trying that’ in a small town and see what happens. FAFO, man. Anyone else remember what happened during the BLM/Antifa riots when people brandished weapons in self-defense? They got arrested and charged. Aldean’s song is a fantasy. Meanwhile, NYC is making cash payouts to 2020 Floyd rioters. Point a rifle at a regime approved rioter, and the cops will come for you, if not local then state, if not state then the Feds. That’s the reality of Joe’s America.

We had a solid week last week with World War 1990: Norway, and we’ll have a solid week this week with the goal of wrapping up the battle of Tromso and getting to 35,000 words or so. Right now there’s no main NATO character on the ground in Tromso, so they feel kind of NPC’d. But adding a NATO character might clutter things up. The main character focus of the chapter is our VDV regimental commander, Colonel Yuri Timonen, Tema to his friends. He’s one of Lebed’s guys and fought with him in Afghansy. Which would be the title of an Afghanistan centered novel. World War 1990: Afghansy.
