Friday Fek it All

The left toe throbs once more. We've caved and made a doctor's appointment for this afternoon. Mother!@#$%!

Alert readers noticed the return of our From the Foreign Desk feature, written by a fellow North American. Got something (anything?) to say? Wanna see it published on a blog that is both obscure and stupid? Email me, wtstroock@yahoo.com.

What Will's Watching: Mets at Phillies on Fox. For the love of Kek, John Smoltz, stop talking. Just stop talking. Let the play breathe a little bit. Let us absorb the last pitch without you explaining that the pitch started in the middle and broke down and in late. We saw it too. And JFC, slugger Kyle Schwarber ain't batting leadoff so he can get on base. He's not batting first so he can hit leadoff homers, no. Schwarber's batting leadoff to maximize the number of at bats he gets. Batting leadoff guarantees four, maybe five chances to hit a homer. It has nothing to do with getting on base to start an inning.

We read the planning and prep chapter in World War 1990: The Final Storm. First the reader see's White House/Downing Street planning. Then the reader sees ground level planning, Tornado squadrons, F-111 squadrons and the like. We are bothered by this, slightly. The chapters are as good as they're gonna get. We'll wait till next week to start anew. Final week.
