Cigar and whiskey last night. Our first Arturo Fuente in three weeks. That's a decent interval.
Our vague foot pain has turned into plantar fasciitis, which we find oddly comforting. We know how to handle plantar fasciitis.
The leader of this blog's Confederate Contingent pointed out that the New Jersey gator is perfect for grilling. Do recall that our paternal grandmother was from Louisianna, and she used to talk about eating frogs legs. There can be no doubt she ate gator too. Anyway, they sent the gator to the Cape May Zoo about two hours from here.
Mrs. Stroock and Oldest Daughter are at Penn State, checking out the campus before going to the Penn State/Delaware game to see the Nittany Lions slaughter the Blue Hens. Penn State gets an easy win. Delaware gets a big payout for putting its chicken neck on the block. This practice is just one of the many things wrong with college football. No fate is too bad for the NCAA.
Politics makes us sick. We fear 2024 will be worse in 2020 in every way. Call us a doomer if you want, but we declare ourselves completely Black Pilled. The Dems plow ahead with unpopular policies (crime, inflation, illegal aliens, etc etc) despite horrible approval numbers because, [drops into Joe Biden whisper] they control the means of counting and it doesn't matter what we think.
Okay, we watched the second act of Superman yesterday and....what a crap show. Badly done and silly. This movie is for chicks, isn't it? We admit Margo Kidder is an angelic beauty as Lois Lane. Interestingly, Kidder's Lane is no damsel, but a tough, sharp reporter. Yet another 'strong female' character somehow written before Kathleen Kennedy ruined Star Wars. Ned Beatty is supposed to be comic relief, but we found him annoying. Perhaps we're watching with the wrong mindset.
The things.
We tweaked World War 1990: The Final Storm, cleaning up some items and adding some chapters aboard AF1 we'd previously removed. We looked at our checklist and saw we've crossed out about half the items therein. That's some good progress, and the MS is now 77,000 words.
We had a great, terrific week with World War 1990: Norway. The rough of the Battle of Bardufus is complete. We now move on to wrapping up the Battle of Tromso and the Marine counterattack up at the Froy Defense Line. We're going to write one Marine character. Do we use him in the battle of Bardufus or up at Froy? Hmmmm....okay maybe two Marines, say a battalion commander running one of these battles and a brigade C/O for bird's eye updates? We shall dwell upon this. The MS is 52,000 words. We've a 50/50 chance of hitting that 1 October rough draft deadline.
Alert reader(s) will notice we've updated the Future Projects page. What do the updates mean? They mean we've no idea what we're doing in January. The Red Dawn Thingy? More World War 1990? Nuke short story comp? Something else? You tell me, man. You tell me.
Red Dawn thingy or Nuke War short stories is my vote.
