We awoke earlier than we meant too, 5:30. Not too bad.
Let's see what pisses us off this morning...
2/5ths of our family saw Penn State shellack Delaware 63-7 yesterday. Hope the humiliation was worth the Big 10 bucks, Delaware.
So we finished Superman last night. We stand by what we wrote about the film's second act. But we do like the end where Superman brings Lex Luthor and Otis to the jail. We'll paraphrase. 'Excuse me Warden. I thought I'd leave these two men here for safe keeping until they can get a fair trial.' Then Superman flies off. Superman is polite, law abiding, shows respect for the proper authorities, and goes out of his way to mention a fair trial. That's so American. Despite its flaws, Superman is still wonderous.
We also started watching the Dragnet movie (1987) last night. When was the last time we watched Dragnet? Dragnet is a very 80's movie, obviously; 80's hell to be frank. It's shot in a very flat way, perhaps in ohmage to the TV show. Dragnet is parody and satire. But like all good satire, Dragnet loves what it's satirizing. This is one of Dan Aykroid's very underrated films.
Okay....we have a Marine armor company holding a crossroads at the backend of the counterattack on the Froy Line. Gee, wonder why. Readers will see the front of the battle from the Soviet POV. 'Uhhh...comrade, we have located American brigade. Excuse me while I die for world socialism.' We might also write in a Swedish observer. 'Oh look, Thorson. The Americans are bringing in more tanks.'
