Will Makes it Up

Baaaah! [Swipes at air, reaches for grog]. As long as we don't move around the left toe is fine.

It feels like one of those days. The autumnal weather has arrived. This afternoon the sun will shine and the air will be crisp. We have an Arturo Fuente Short Story on hand. It's been a couple of weeks since our last cigar. Why not?

Middle Daughter asked us if we think about Rome a lot. Sort of? We did watch an episode of Rome the other day. We've published a bunch of articles on Rome, Scipio, Zama, the 3rd Carthaginian War, Crassus. We submitted an article about the Roman general Mettelus to Strategy and Tactics in the mid 2000s. Bastards. Glory to the Metteli!

Waiting during Youngest Daughter's Hebrew school, we read through Blooms. That's a damn fine novel. There's plenty of blank space in the lives of Jake and Patricia. Sometimes we wonder if we should fill in those blank spaces. Of course Blooms doesn't sell. We never expected Blooms to sell. But we still must needs consider the book's sellableness [not a word-Ed]. Selling wise there's no there there. But ideas wise there's plenty of there there.

We made up a semi-independent Marine tank battalion yesterday for World War 1990: Norway. An explanation. The 4th Tank Battalion was real. The 4th Tanks fought a well documented Battle at Kafji in 1991. Writing about the 4th Tanks would have obligated us to do a hell of a lot of research, use a lot of real names and call signs and what not. So we invented the 7th 'Lucky' Tank Battalion. There, that's much better. We didn't go with 7th Tanks so we could use 'Lucky'. We went with 7th Tanks so the commander could use the call sign 'Mantle'. If you know anything about baseball, you know why he's 'Mantle'.

Segue...The writing of armor battle chapter, or whatever we're calling it, is going great. A solid rough, or semi-finished chapter will be complete by Friday. That leaves the Swedish air battle, maybe a REDACTED Damage control scene, perhaps something with the Norwegian Home Guard, and the epilogue chapter. No, we will not meet the 1 October deadline. This is a good thing. This means we're getting great ideas. New deadline is 1 November.
