The Israelis turned off the lights and cut off the water to Gaza and say they will not be returned until the hostages return. Good. War is hell. Speaking of, Israelis are not effing around, hospitals are refusing to treat wounded terrorists. And really, why should they?
The aerial campaign against Gaza continues with unprecedented fury. The Israelis are now promising a long war that will take months. The IDF will advance into a hornet's nest. Expect lots of footage of knocked out Merkeva tanks and Namer APCs. Expect heavy Israeli casualties. An interesting thought, for a decade Israel has worried about Hamas and Hezbollah tunnels into Israel. What if Israel has tunneled into Gaza? You know what the imams say. The unity government is said to prefer reoccupation of Gaza.
The last few days have seen skirmishing between the IDF and Hezbollah including a massive terror alert yesterday that turned out to be a false alarm. Today the IAF is bombing Syrian airports. If Israel can no longer coexist with Hamas, then it can no longer coexist with Hezbollah, no? What if, after reducing Gaza to a pile of smoldering rubble which has been bounced many times, the IDF turns north and destroys Hezbollah? Israel is already at war and mobilized. Why? Why not?
The New York Post reports the backlash against students protesting for Hamas and celebrating the 10/7 massacre continues. As the left says, there is free speech and there are consequences. You like cancel culture? Cancel yourself. There is now enormous public pressure for corporate entities to support Israel and for example, the BBC to call Hamas terrorists. Last night the Phillies put the Israeli flag on the big screen before hammering the Braves 10-2.
Israel Radar reports some interesting poll numbers, '84% of Israeli Jews blame government for Gaza fiasco, 56% say PM Netanyahu must resign after the war. 52% say Defense Minister Gallant must resign.' Those resignation numbers seem low to us. This blog is not personally loyal to Netanyahu. Heck, in the 2000s we hated his guts, as did our man, the Jewish savior, Ariel Sharon. Many great leaders presided over military fiascos, see Lincoln and Roosevelt. A successful war will probably save Bibi or at least his legacy.
