Hey, Will's Pill rhymes, how 'bout that? [Oh, bravo...Excuse me while I slow clap you-Ed]
We write from our once favorite coffeeshop where the satellite radio is on the Taylor Swift channel [So just like home-Ed] yes. The coffee is...kinda meh. Ownership probably wouldn't like it if we set up our Keurig at the table, right? [Right-Ed].
Disaster yesterday in Khan Younis as a building collapse killed 21 Israeli soldiers. The Israelis have encircled Khan Younis and the 98th Division has begun a major push into the western end of the city. Sources we follow think this is the final big battle, even with Rafah still in Hamas' hands. The Jerusalem Post thinks 60 percent of Hamas fighters are dead or wounded.
Netanyahu has offered Hamas a two-month ceasefire in exchange for all of the remaining hostages. We believe these negotiations can be dragged out till the job in Khan Younis is done.
Israeli agents are in Washington seeking to make a huge arms purchase.
It is our belief, or hope, that the ceasefire offer is a last bit of diplomatic wrangling aimed at placating the United States, Europe, and the hostage release protestors at home. Bibi negotiates government coalition deals for breakfast, he can handle this Hamas trash.*
Here's a long article on how Bibi manages Biden et al, 'Give an inch, block a mile.' Subhead, 'PM repeatedly drags his feet before eventually agreeing to tactical US demands, buying him credit to ignore more strategic asks regarding Gaza war, top Israeli official explains.' Read the article.
One can be worried about a long ceasefire, we are. But given the new offensive, Israel's desire to purchase more weapons from Washington, and plans to expand the domestic arms industry, it's evident that this is going to be a long, long war.
Powerline with a good piece giving more fodder for our Black Pill political mood. Dems used abortion to battle the GOP to a standstill in 2022 and will use the issue again this year. The Dems will pin the Dobbs decision, rightfully, on Trump, who will give nonsensical answers in response. Unless the GOP can think of a way to make the abortion issue about Dem abortion extremism, that is. Does anyone think the current GOP can do that? Reminder, the GOPe would rather loose with Haley than win with Trump.
Legal Insurrection reports on Bernie Sanders' latest proposal: 'The Tax Excessive CEO Pay Act would amend an IRS code “to impose a corporate tax rate increase on companies whose ratio of compensation of the CEO or other highest paid employee to median worker compensation is more than 50 to 1, and for other purposes.”' There is no reason for MAGA nation to oppose this. Know your class enemies.
Sports Illustrated. Sorry modern SI staff, fat and/or tucked chicks on the cover of the swimsuit issue isn't a good marketing strategy. You know what is a good marketing strategy? Beautiful women in bikinis. Does Stroock's Books really have to explain men to you people? We do? Okay. Go read this Gary Trudeau cartoon about the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. We first saw that cartoon around 1990. 'For the 12-year-old boy in all of us.' It's so true. You young fellas have no idea. We didn't have an older brother who could get playboys or something, and there was no internet. If one wanted pictures of beautiful women, one had to scrounge. Here's the first swimsuit issue we cared about, February 1988, Elle McPherson. For us the girl was Kathy Ireland. [Knobhead-Ed] You're just jealous. Anway, she was a big, big deal in the late 80s and early 90s.
We changed things up yesterday and went to a coffee shop after taking Youngest Daughter to the bus stop. We saw excellent results.
We have read through the first two chapters of World War 1990: Norway. Things are fine. Honestly, after the success of World War 1990: The Final Storm (62 ratings 4.3 stars), maybe we should just learn to stop worrying and love our writing. Or is that complacency? Fear is such a powerful motivator. Also, we wrote the concluding scene. Is it done (asked like Lawrence Olivier in a dentist's office)?
We had a good day with the silo story in War Night.
