Will Goes the Full Irish

A good Monday morn, Stroock's Books reader(s). We awake well rested after a weekend of dance recitals, barbeque, family, and general weekend chores.

We mowed the lawn yesterday, and we're old enough now that that certainly counts as a workout. Six days in a row. We need rest. Our weight is threatening to drop below 240 pounds. With a little work we may be able to push our weight below the 240 line this week.

So we accidently friended a Sopranos star on Facebook. And he accepted. Weird. We don't even like The Sopranos. Interestingly, FB keeps telling us we may know semi-famous and even famous people. Are we semi-famous? [Okay, seriously?-Ed] Well, what's up with that, then?

So we ordered ourselves a copy of Hooves, Tracks and Sabers, and read Standoff at San Miguel while sitting in front of the grill yesterday. Barely a month ago we were editing that story and fretting about sending it in. And there it is in print. That's our second story in a compellation. Huh, The Blue and the Red was five years ago, already. We're shooting for a third story submission. Wish us luck. By the way. HTS is exquisitely illustrated.

We see Mexico has elected a president, Claudia Sheinbaum. Yes, she's a Jew. You know what the imams say. We ourselves have nothing to say about Sheinbaum, her election and what that portends for Mexico and US/Mexico relations. We literally know nothing. We literally don't care. We will notice (heh) that Mexico held an election and told us who won within a few hours of polls closing. You can do that? Reminder: Trump won.

In other electoral news, South African voters gave the African National Congress a resounding defeat. That is good. But it looks like the ANC would go int a coalition government with a pair of commie, White hating, Afro-Marxist parties, the MKP and EFF. 'Both are “proudly Marxist” and, like the ANC, are fervent supporters of regimes in China, Russia, Iran, and Zimbabwe. Both accuse the ANC of “selling out” to white capitalists. Both advocate seizing white-owned land, including farms, and “nationalizing” mines and banks.' That is bad.

It's World War 1990: Thatcher's War week here at Stroock's Books. Yesterday we began research in earnest. We're reading a history of the IRA. We've got a history of the SAS in Ireland written by some commie priest. And we got a history of the Irish Defence Force. We're going to get a book about Ireland in the 70s and 80s. From there we'll see if we need to do a deep dive and read Tim Pat Coogan's history of Ireland in the 20th century. Right now we're writing the opening chapter, a whip around showing the state of things in various places, a few days after the armistice. And then, bam! What's that burning car on Thames Bridge? World War 1990: Thatcher's War is 4,000 words.
